AVArts is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to increasing access to arts education and art experiences for all Anderson Valley residents.
With the generous involvement of the many talented local artists, craftspeople, businesses and donors, AVArts serves the dual purpose of reinforcing community spirit and making the arts a more visible and important presence in our community.
AVArts provides scholarships to Anderson Valley Junior & Senior High School’s talented seniors who have shown interest and promise in further developing their creativity. Many of these deserving students have gone on to study visual arts, music, drama, filmmaking and creative writing in workshops, community colleges, art schools, state colleges and universities. AVArts also provides scholarships to students in 3rd–12th grades to attend special arts related classes, workshops and events.
Additionally, AVArts annually provides grants which support supplemental arts education programs and experiences in our elementary, junior and senior high schools, reinforcing the benefits that arts education provides to students throughout their lives.
With support from local businesses, artists, community members and art lovers, AVArts sponsors and participates in a number of community arts events and activities including AVArts Pie in the Sky fundraising event as well as the annual Art in the Cellar exhibit at Handley Cellars. AVArts gratefully acknowledges The Amy Ensign-Barstow Memorial Fund and The George and Ruth Bradford Foundation for their support of the AVArts arts in the schools and scholarship programs.
